Breitling returns to the Formula 1 stage in dramatic fashion with the launch of the Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. This special-edition chronograph celebrates the brand’s new multi-year partnership with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team and marks the first-ever use of titanium in a Navitimer case. Designed for motorsport enthusiasts and watch collectors alike, the release underscores a union of performance-driven engineering and classic chronograph heritage.
The case of the Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team measures 43mm in diameter and 13.69mm in thickness, presenting the familiar round Navitimer profile with balanced, aviation-inspired proportions. For the first time in the history of the Navitimer, the case is crafted entirely from lightweight titanium, giving the watch a noticeably reduced mass while preserving its robust tool-watch character. Finishing alternates between satin-brushed surfaces and polished accents, lending the case a purposeful yet refined appearance that aligns with both aviation and motorsport DNA.
On the reverse, a sapphire crystal caseback offers a clear view of the in-house Breitling Manufacture Calibre B01. Surrounding the crystal, the titanium caseback ring is engraved with dedicated markings specific to this edition, including the individual numbering “One of 1959” and Breitling’s emblematic slogan “Instruments for Drivers.” The overall execution combines technical clarity with commemorative detail, reinforcing the watch’s status as a motorsport-linked collector’s piece while allowing full appreciation of the movement within.
The case is fitted with a signed crown at 3 o’clock, flanked by classic pump-style chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock that control the start, stop, and reset functions. Above the dial, a sapphire crystal protects the display, ensuring durability and scratch resistance while maintaining legibility. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).
The dial presents the classic Navitimer tri-compax chronograph layout, with sub-dials positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock and a white-on-black date display discreetly nestled at 4:30. The main surface is crafted from carbon fibre, lending the dial a woven texture and a deep matte finish inspired by the materials used in Formula One cockpits. The outer slide rule scale, an iconic Navitimer hallmark, encircles the dial offering functional utility and visual complexity, while a tachymeter scale adds further motorsport relevance. The dominant tone is black, but it’s animated with vibrant flashes of Aston Martin Racing Green and lime accents throughout.
Indices are applied, baton-shaped, and rendered in a stealthy tone that complements the black dial, yet remain legible thanks to contrasting lume and polished facets. The hour and minute hands are sword-shaped and filled with lume, while the chronograph seconds hand is accented in Aston Martin green and ends with a Breitling ‘B’ counterweight. Subdials are slightly recessed with circular graining, offering tonal contrast while maintaining the monochromatic core. Branding is balanced: the Breitling logo sits prominently below 12 o’clock, while “Chronometer” and “Navitimer” appear subtly across the dial plane, all in white for optimal contrast.
Finishing details are purposeful yet refined. The carbon fibre texture delivers a rugged, technical depth, while the recessed registers and azuré finishing enhance visual layering. Super-LumiNova in Aston Martin Racing Green is applied to the hour and minute hands, as well as to the hour indices, ensuring legibility in dim environments. This luminous application ties the dial’s legibility to its racing-themed design language, making it effective and distinctive under all conditions.
