Breitling Aerospace B70 Orbiter

Introducing the adventurer's ultimate chronograph, imbued with a tangible slice of history. On the 21st of March, 1999, the duo of Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones set an unprecedented record by completing the world's first uninterrupted balloon circumnavigation. Their voyage in the Breitling Orbiter 3 concluded in the vastness of the Egyptian sands, spanning 45,633 kilometers over a duration of 19 days, 21 hours, and 47 minutes. In celebration of a quarter century since this remarkable journey, Breitling unveils the Aerospace B70 Orbiter, a tribute to this monumental achievement. The 43mm case with a 12,9 thickness is made of titanium with a textured finish AND chosen for its superior strength-to-weight ratio. In a departure from its predecessors, the new Breitling Aerospace B70 Orbiter features subtly sculpted case sides, a design choice aimed at both reducing weight and forging a uniquely contemporary aesthetic. On the flipside of this unique timepiece we encounter a sapphire exhibition caseback that instead of a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement, features a piece of history. Each special edition watch contains a segment of the original balloon, visible through the open caseback. In earlier Aerospace models, the multi-function crown was the sole control for all features. However, the new Aerospace B70 Orbiter introduces an extra set of oval pushers on either side of the crown, enhancing the ease of accessing the watch's diverse movement functions. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet). The dial of the Breitling Aerospace B70 Orbiter dazzles in a striking orange hue, transitioning to black at its periphery through a radial gradient effect, and showcases the iconic layout of the collection with central analog hands, prominent Arabic numerals, and dual LCD screens that present the sophisticated functions of the movement within. The choice of orange pays homage to the Orbiter 3 capsule's color, which housed the crew members.Additionally, historical photos from the journey reveal Bertrand Piccard, one of the pilots of the Orbiter 3 balloon, wearing a Breitling Emergency watch with an orange dial, further tying the design to the historic circumnavigation undertaken with Brian Jones.
