Breguet builds on the strong momentum of its 250th anniversary celebrations with a refreshed lineup of Breguet Tradition models for 2026. Rooted in the late 18th-century pocket watches of Abraham-Louis Breguet, the Tradition collection continues to express one of watchmaking’s most distinctive layouts, with the movement fully exposed on the dial side and time indicated on an off-centred display at 12 o’clock. This latest update focuses on refining the core models, introducing new materials, colour palettes, and subtle technical evolutions, while preserving the architectural DNA that defines the collection.
Across the updated Tradition lineup, case sizes range from 37mm to 40mm, depending on the reference, with thicknesses varying between approximately 11.6mm and 12.7mm. Materials include 18k white gold, 18k rose gold, and platinum, offering a spectrum from classic precious metal elegance to more contemporary interpretations. Finishing remains faithful to Breguet’s heritage, with fluted casebands and polished surfaces enhancing the refined character of each piece.
On the reverse, sapphire casebacks reveal the intricate calibres within, including movements finished with dark grey coatings or traditional rhodium tones depending on the model.
In certain references, the oscillating weight is styled after the historic “perpétuelle” systems developed by Abraham-Louis Breguet, reinforcing the historical narrative embedded in the collection.
At 3 o’clock sits a finely fluted crown, used for winding and setting the time, while select GMT models feature an additional pusher at 11 o’clock to adjust the second time zone in one-hour increments. Sapphire crystals protect both front and back, ensuring full visibility of the movement architecture. Water-resistance is in line with dress watch standards.
The defining element of the Tradition collection remains its openworked dial architecture, where the movement itself becomes the visual centrepiece. Bridges, gear trains, and escapements are displayed prominently, arranged in a layout inspired directly by late 18th-century Breguet pocket watches.
Time is indicated on an off-centred dial positioned at 12 o’clock, typically crafted in grand feu enamel or, in select references, aventurine glass for added visual depth. The contrast between the traditional time display and the exposed mechanical components below creates a striking balance between classical watchmaking and contemporary design.
Additional complications are integrated seamlessly within this layout. Retrograde seconds arcs add dynamic motion to the display, while GMT models incorporate dual time indications with day/night indicators. The use of blued “Breguet” hands and finely executed guilloché elements further reinforces the brand’s signature aesthetic.
