Breguet Reine de Naples iN Pink

One of the first (if not thee first) wristwatch designed by Breguet is back again. This legendary piece was first designed and worn by Queen of the reign of Naples, Caroline Murat (1782-1839), hence this watch being known as the “Reine de Naples”. We recently reviewed a pair of these in black and with a mother-of-pearl dial, now it returns with a slightly pink hued version.The 36.5 mm by 28.45 mm oval shaped case is made of 18k rose gold with an overall polished finish. Despite its petite size this watch was delicately crafted with fluted casebands for a refined aesthetic, proper of royal elegance.On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features a platinum oscillating weight decorated with an engine-turned Clou de Paris hobnailing finish.It comes equipped with a large protruding setting-crown, knurled near the top for a better grip, and also set with a diamond. Spread out along the bezel, flange, and crown is a total of 118 diamonds (approximately 0.94ct). Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).Time is exhibited on a lightly pink “Grand Feu” enamel dial with elongated Breguet style Arabic numerals that stretch out in different sizings.

Meanwhile circling within the dial flange is a ring of gem-set diamonds.In the mid center is an off-centered chapter ring with small minute/seconds markings, plus the signature open-tipped Bregeut hands in rose gold.There is also a pear-cut diamond placed at the 6 o’clock position.

The “Breguet Reine de Naples” (Ref#: 8918BR/2C/364/D00D) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 537/3 with 26 jewels, 8¾ lines, 191 components, and 25,200 vph. It comes equipped with a silicon Swiss straight-line lever escapement and flat silicon made balance spring. Power reserve can last up to 45 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on the watch is a pink alligator leather strap, secured to the wrist by an 18k rose gold triple-folding buckle. For more up to date information visit the official Breguet website here.
