History can inform us of many “raison d'etre“, such as the renowned mastery of Abraham-Louis Breguet, who enjoyed the favor of France's elite, including Queen Caroline Murat, Napoleon Bonaparte's sister. Among her collection of thirty Breguet timepieces was a unique wristwatch delivered in 1812, which was an oblong marvel with a quarter repeater, moon phase indicator, and thermometer, attached by a wristlet woven from hair and gold thread. Fast forward to 2002, Breguet introduced the Reine de Naples women's collection with oval-shaped cases. Now to help celebrate International Women's Day, the latest addition, Reine de Naples 8918, features exquisite white gold, diamonds, and a refreshing mint-green hue.The 36.5 mm by 28.45 mm oval shaped case is made of 18k white gold with an overall polished finish. Although small in stature, this watch boasts delicate craftsmanship, featuring Breguet’s hallmark fluted casebands that exude a refined elegance befitting royalty.On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features a platinum oscillating weight decorated with an engine-turned Clou de Paris hobnailing finish.Its notable features include a sizable protruding setting-crown, textured for improved handling and adorned with a diamond. Adorning the bezel, flange, and crown are a combined total of 118 diamonds (approximately 0.94 carats). Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).Time is exhibited on a mint green hued mother-of-pearl dial with elongated Breguet style Arabic numerals that stretch out in different sizings. Meanwhile circling within the dial flange is a ring of gem-set diamonds.In the mid center is an off-centered, snow-set diamond circle chapter ring with small minute/seconds markings, plus the signature open-tipped Bregeut hands in blued-steel. There is also a pear-cut diamond placed at the 6 o’clock position.

The “Breguet Reine de Naples” (Ref#: 8918BB5D964D0) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 537/3 with 26 jewels, 8¾ lines, 191 components, and 25,200 vph.
