The 43.9mm platinum case with a thickness of 11.9mm maintains a slim profile for such a complex timepiece, achieved through an ultra-thin base movement that allows for comfortable wear without sacrificing functionality. Platinum is known for its durability and luxurious appeal, plus it  lends the watch a refined, cool-toned appearance that contrasts beautifully with the black dial. 
The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the inner workings of the in-house caliber 581DPE, offering a view of Breguet’s intricate craftsmanship. Featuring hand-engraved bridges that depict the silhouette of the Royal Louis, a warship commissioned by the French Royal Navy, the caseback adds a historical connection to the piece. The transparent back also reveals a platinum peripheral rotor engraved with a wave motif, balancing modernity and tradition in both design and functionality.
The iconic fluted caseband adds a touch of classic Breguet elegance, while the wave-shaped crown guard and integrated lug modules emphasize the nautical inspiration that defines the Marine collection. Polished and brushed finishes alternate on the case surfaces, adding depth and highlighting Breguet’s expert finishing. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).
The dial of the Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante 5887PT is a showcase of Breguet’s artistry, featuring a wave-inspired guilloché pattern that creates depth and reflects the watch’s nautical inspiration. The main dial’s rich black color is complemented by a silver-toned chapter ring, adding elegance and enhancing the readability of the time display. Accented with blackened gold Roman numerals and pyramid-shaped hour markers crafted from 18k gold, the dial achieves a harmonious blend of classic Breguet design and contemporary style.
Designed for functionality, the dial features a retrograde date hand arching between 9 and 3 o’clock, while the perpetual calendar’s day and month windows sit between 10 and 2 o’clock, framed in white gold for added clarity. At the 5 o’clock position, a one-minute tourbillon is visible beneath a sapphire bridge, housed in a lightweight titanium cage and displaying the technical expertise Breguet brings to each detail. The layout carefully balances these complications, ensuring both symmetry and ease of use without overcrowding the dial.
The main hour and minute hands are filled with luminescent material, ensuring legibility in low-light conditions. Adding to its distinctive character, the fourth central hand indicates solar time and is tipped with a gold-plated fluted ring, subtly contrasting with the monochromatic black-and-silver theme. This luminescent feature aligns with the watch’s functional approach while preserving the elegance that defines Breguet’s Marine collection.
