Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365
Breguet were the first to invent and introduce the tourbillon regulator technology. The founder Abraham-Louis Breguet patented this complication in 1801, over two centuries ago. As a homage to the company’s invention they’ve released the limited edition “Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365”.The 42mm case is made of 18k rose gold with a 7mm height. It’s been finely crafted with polished surfaces and finely decorated casebands with a fluted pattern. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that reveals a richly decorated movement. The bridges and oscillating weight have all been finely hand-engraved. Breguet crafted the weight out of platinum to provide a greater inertia, while it rotates on the periphery of the caliber, which also served to slim it down and provide a clear view of the movement. The long thin lugs have been welded on with screw bars for a reinforced hold. It also comes equipped with a setting-crown embossed with the Breguet logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 30 meters (98 feet).Time is exhibited on an 18k gold silvered engine-turned dial with black Arabic numerals, followed by a ring of smaller round minute index markers with golden dots for each 5-minute increment. The center portion of the dial and the flange area both feature a hand-applied guilloché and Clous de Paris grain pattern. While the Arabic numerals are printed on a frosted surface and pointed out by central open-tipped Breguet hands in blued steel. Right above the large tourbillon on the lower-half of the dial is a special “Brevert No 157” engraving, which is a reference to the original patent number. The tourbillon cage has also been marked, so it can be used as a small-seconds.The tourbillon cage is composed of over 50 miniature parts that usually rotate once per minute and is an impressive feat of engineering. This innovation and unique off-center designs crafted by the great Breguet founder, firmly established their place as one of the oldest watch-makers in the horology business, since 1801,
