Breguet Classique Phase de lune 7235

Breguet Classique Phase de lune 7235

In celebration of its 250th anniversary, Breguet unveils the Classique 7235, a refined tribute to the enduring legacy of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s design language. Drawing direct inspiration from the iconic No. 5 pocket watch delivered in 1794, this limited edition reinterprets foundational elements of the Breguet style, including the off-centered layout, hand-guilloché gold dial, and blued steel pomme hands, through a contemporary lens. With a more ergonomic 39mm case architecture, traditional mechanical complications, and extraordinary decorative finishing, the 7235 reinforces the maison’s historic commitment to elegance, clarity, and horological artistry. The Breguet Classique 7235 is housed in a 39mm case made of 18k Breguet gold, with a total thickness of just 9.9mm. It introduces a more streamlined, three-part construction with fully integrated lugs that curve gently from the case middle.  The flanks of the case are decorated with hand-applied “Quai de l’Horloge” guilloché, lending both visual depth and historical meaning. The polished bezel offers a sleek contrast to the engraved mid-case, framing the slightly domed sapphire crystal that evokes the spirit of antique pocket watches.Around the back, a sapphire crystal exhibition window reveals the in-house calibre 502.3.DRL in full detail. The movement is beautifully decorated, with bridges hand-engraved to depict the Turgot map of Paris, a tribute to the historical Quai de l’Horloge location of Breguet’s workshop. The caseback rim continues the guilloché “Quai de l’Horloge” pattern for a cohesive aesthetic and artisanal finish throughout.
The watch features a minimalist crown at 3 o’clock with fluted edges for easy grip and precise adjustments. A cambered sapphire crystal safeguards the front of the watch, offering distortion-free legibility. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet), which is appropriate for a refined timepiece of this nature. The dial of the Breguet Classique 7235 is rendered in solid 18k Breguet gold and entirely decorated using traditional hand-applied guilloché techniques. The layout follows an elegant, off-centered format inspired by the original No. 5 pocket watch, with a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, a moonphase aperture at 1:30, and a power reserve indicator at 10:30. The main dial surface showcases the “Quai de l’Horloge” motif in straight lines, while the subdials and outer chapter ring feature a circular variation of the same pattern, creating a layered and dynamic visual effect.Around the periphery, the chapter ring features blue Roman numerals arranged in sectors over brushed inserts that contrast beautifully with the engraved surfaces. The hours and minutes are indicated by the brand’s signature hollow-tip pomme hands in heat-blued steel, while the seconds and power reserve functions are also tracked by blued steel hands of different styles, maintaining aesthetic coherence across the display. A classic “BREGUET” cartouche is engraved below the 12 o’clock position, preserving the historic character of the dial.No luminescent material is used, in keeping with the collection’s classical inspiration. Instead, the visual emphasis is placed on craftsmanship and material richness, with each guilloché section offering different textures under shifting light. The dial surface also features a slight convex profile, sloping gently toward the edge, a detail that echoes the shape of antique pocket watches and subtly enhances the sense of depth.
