Breguet Classique 7225

Breguet Classique 7225

To celebrate its 250th anniversary, Breguet has unveiled the new Classique 7225, a hand-wound timepiece that revives one of its most fascinating technical achievements: the 10Hz magnetic-pivot escapement. Originally introduced in the Chronométrie 7727, this high-frequency mechanism reappears in a newly designed 41mm gold case with refined classical proportions and a dial inspired by Abraham-Louis Breguet’s No. 1176 tourbillon pocket watch. Combining precision chronometry with poetic visual flair, the Classique 7225 reinforces the maison’s legacy as both a technical and artistic innovator.
The Breguet Classique 7225 is housed in a newly designed 41mm case crafted from 18k Breguet gold, a proprietary alloy with a warm hue and lustrous finish. Unlike previous Classique models, this case does away with traditional fluted casebands and soldered lugs in favor of a more streamlined construction with integrated lugs and a refined, curved silhouette. A guilloché motif now decorates the caseband itself, maintaining Breguet’s decorative heritage while signaling a more modern architectural direction. The overall thickness remains relatively slim at 10.7mm, contributing to the watch’s understated elegance on the wrist.Around the back, a sapphire exhibition caseback offers a full view of the caliber 74SC, revealing hand-engraved bridges with a topographic vista of the Swiss valley where the Breguet manufacture is located. The caseback frame is rendered in matching Breguet gold and includes space for optional personalization. Its screw-down construction ensures a secure fit, while the pronounced curvature of the case middle and lugs aids wearability, making this a watch that sits comfortably on a variety of wrist sizes despite its technical complexity.Crown and pusher are crafted in matching 18k Breguet gold, with the fluted crown positioned at 3 o’clock and signed with the Breguet “B.” A secondary pusher is neatly integrated on the left side of the case at 8 o’clock, allowing the wearer to activate the flyback function of the observation seconds hand at 10 o’clock. The watch is fitted with a spherical sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides, while a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the finely engraved movement within. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet). The dial of the Breguet Classique 7225 is crafted from solid 18k Breguet gold and finished with intricate hand-guilloché using the maison’s proprietary Quai de l’Horloge motif. Its layout takes direct inspiration from A.-L. Breguet’s historical No. 1176 pocket watch, with an elegant regulator-style configuration that includes central hours and minutes, a power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock, and two subdials at 2 and 10 o’clock. The flinqué-style engraving on the subdials adds a further layer of refinement and texture, while the chapter ring features blue-printed Roman numerals that contrast crisply against the warm tone of the gold surface. At 2 o’clock, a continuously running small seconds subdial provides a visual anchor on the upper right of the dial, balanced on the left by an “observation” seconds counter at 10 o’clock. This flyback small seconds hand is activated by a pusher located at 8 o’clock on the case, enabling the wearer to time short events or track simultaneous intervals, an uncommon complication that sets this model apart from other high-frequency pieces. At 6 o’clock, a graceful fan-shaped power reserve indicator tracks the 60-hour autonomy of the hand-wound movement. All hands are classically styled in Breguet blue, with the hour and minute hands rendered as hollow-tipped feuille shapes, while the small seconds and power reserve hands are more slender and precise. Despite the asymmetrical layout, legibility remains excellent, with strong spatial balance between complications. The lack of a date window preserves the purity of the display, allowing the traditional aesthetic and mechanical prowess to take center stage.

The “Breguet Classique Régulateur à Pivot Magnétique 7225” (Ref#: 7225BH0H9V6) is powered by the in-house, manual-winding mechanical movement, caliber 74SC with 54 jewels, 361 components, and a frequency of 72,000 vph (10 Hz). It comes equipped with a flat double silicon balance spring, a silicon pallet-lever and escape-wheel, and a magnetic pivot regulating system for exceptional stability and precision. Power reserve can last up to 60 hours, when fully wound.
