Blancpain Villeret Ultraplate
For those that appreciate keeping a low-profile, while not sacrificing quality or elegance your options have increased widely. Blancpain recently added several new options to their “Villeret” collection. Be it steel or gold, on a strap or a bracelet, with or without diamonds. It’s just a question of personal taste. Let’s take a look at the new range of “Blancpain Villeret Ultraplate” timepieces.
The 38mm case is available in either: stainless-steel or 18k red gold, while on the flip-side we encounter a sapphire crystal exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes equipped with a gold rotor decorated with a honeycomb pattern, on all options, even the steel models.
Mounted to the case is a stepped bezel that offers a subtle touch of dimension and depth to its overall look. Diamond studded bezel options are also available. Plus with a case thickness of only 8.35mm this is an ideal dress watch for daily wear. Its visual presence is a given, while its wrist strain is nearly non-existent. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 30 meters (96 feet).
Time is exhibited with a white dial on the steel models, or a warmer opaline dial for the 18k red gold models. All of them with Roman numerals that match the case alloy of each model.
If at first glance this Vilerret seems to posses an even more serene look than before, that’s because it does. Blancpain has applied some subtle but significant design modifications by removing the “automatic” inscription usually found on the lower-half of the dial and elongating and reducing the font size of the brand’s logo.
Plus a less noticeable mod achieved by now placing the classic Villeret Roman numerals V, VI, VII and VIII in an upright position. The central leaf shaped hands have also been hollowed out, plus they’ve added a counter-weight on the central seconds hands with the initials of the Blancpain’s founder JB. There is also a bevelled date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
