Blancpain Villeret Extraplate Boutique Edition
Blancpain recently added several new options to their “Villeret” collection that included steel and gold models with a choice of strap or bracelet. Well if none of those variations got your attention, they’ve now released the new “Blancpain Villeret Extraplate Boutique Edition”. This is the first time a Villeret model has featured a green dial and the results are quite appealing. The 40mm case is made of 18k yellow gold with a thickness of only 8.7mm. This makes it an ideal dress watch for daily use and near zero wrist strain. While mounted to the case is a stepped bezel that offers a subtle touch of dimension and depth to its overall look. On the flip-side we encounter a sapphire crystal exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes equipped with a gold rotor decorated with a honeycomb pattern. Plus the circumference of the case has been engraved with the brand logo and a unique number for each boutique edition. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 30 meters (96 feet).Time is exhibited on a green dial with a sun-burst finish, elegantly framed within the 18k yellow gold case, while providing the background for the matching gold Roman numerals. Just like the previous updated “Ultraplate” models this boutique edition has removed the “automatic” inscription usually found on the lower-half of the dial and reduced the font size of the brand’s logo on the upper-half.It also included the less noticeable mod achieved by placing the classic Villeret Roman numerals V, VI, VII and VIII in an upright position. The central leaf-shaped hands have also been hollowed out, plus they’ve added a counter-weight on the central seconds hands with the initials of the Blancpain’s founder JB. There is also a bevelled date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
