Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback
During summer Blancpain released the “Mokarran” limited edition watch dedicated to spreading awareness about the endangered great hammerhead shark. Now they return with a similar green-themed “Fifty Fathoms” model, enhanced by a chronograph function as a current production, extending its availability to all those eager to bite the bait. The 43.6mm case is made of satin-brushed black ceramic with a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement.
Despite ceramic not being as sturdy as metal, its main benefits are providing a lighter wrist weight and higher resistance to corrosion when immersed in salt water. An essential quality for true divers that to put this watch to use. 
Mounted to the case is a unidirectional satin-brushed titanium bezel with a green ceramic insert, which features Liquidmetal® hour-markers. It comes equipped with two push-pieces to operate the chronograph and a screw-in setting crown. All topped by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Water-resistance on this timepiece can reach up to 300m (984 feet).
Time is exhibited on a mesmerizing sun-burst finish green dial with rounded index markers made of Liquidmetal®, an alloy suited to avoid distortions. There are three sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a sub-seconds at 6 o’clock, and a 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock position. It also feature a date aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock spots. 
The central syringe-style hands are based on the original vintage look of this model, which have along with the hourly index markers, been fitted with a luminescent coating for an enhanced legibility. Visible even in a deep-dive scenario aimed towards the depths of the ocean. Plus the thin chronograph hand has been given a red-tip to standout among the overall green color-scheme.

The “Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback” (Ref#: 5002-0153) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber F385, with 37 jewels, 322 components, and 36,000 vph. It comes equipped with a vertical clutch fly back, chronograph and date. Power reserve on this timepiece can last up to 50 hours.
