Bell & Ross BR-X5 Collection

At first glance we’re met by the same shape, but the design and layout are all new. The BR 05 collection has been a major focus of Bell & Ross in recent years. They’ve added many new models and used various materials to craft them. Now it's evolved into a whole new line dubbed “BR-X5”, which also includes a new proprietary movement developed by the Swiss specialist Kenissi. The 41mm case is made of stainless-steel with a mixture of satin-brushed and polished finish, while shaped in the classic Bell & Ross circle in a square format. Mounted to the case is a fixed rounded out square bezel with exposed screws and vertical brushed finish. On the flip-side we have an exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The various parts that include plates, container, bezel, and case back are assembled and kept watertight by four screws that pass through the whole 12.80 mm thickness, in order to reinforce the final construction. The multi-layer assembly is noticeable from the front, but can be properly observed from a side view. As the brand says “The hollowed-out architecture of the case middle is obvious, revealing a technical construction that optimizes lightness without compromising on resistance.”It comes equipped with a setting-crown surrounded by crown guards that were machined from the same block as the main case container. The crown has also been embossed with the Bell & Ross ampersand logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on either a sunray black or sunray ice blue dial with applied silver colored hour indices, followed by printed minute index markers. It includes two complications that appear as a triple-digit date window at 3 o’clock and a framed power reserve indicator at the 9 o’clock position. This is the main novelty that makes this model line stand out against what we’ve come to expect from Bell & Ross. The central hour/minute hands and hour indices have all been fitted with a luminescent filling for an enhanced legibility. There is also a limited edition (of only 500 manufactured pieces) “BR-X5 Carbon Orange” model that combines titanium DLC, with carbon fiber, and rubber. The dial on this model features various orange accents that give it a distinguished look, further enhanced by the orange rubber strap.

Bell & Ross BR-X5 Collection

The “Bell & Ross BR-X5” (References below) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.323 with 28 jewels, and 28,800 vph. This movement was manufactured by the Swiss specialist Kenissi, in compliance with the specifications defined by Bell & Ross. It comes equipped with a variable-inertia balance wheel and transversal bridge. It is also the first COSC certified mechanism for B&R. Power reserve can last up to 72 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on the watch is either a ventilated rubber strap (in black, ice blue, or orange), secured by a folding clasp; or for an additional price it can be had in a stainless-steel bracelet, secured by a folding clasp. For more up to date information visit the official Bell & Ross website here.
