The Bell & Ross BR-X3 introduces a fresh chapter in the brand’s evolution by merging the technical prowess of the BR-X5 with the iconic aviation-inspired BR-03 case. By transplanting the Kenissi-built caliber BR-CAL.323 into a familiar square silhouette, the BR-X3 bridges the gap between tool-watch utility and modern mechanical refinement. Offered in stainless steel or grade 2 titanium with black DLC accents, this new release maintains the visual strength and modular DNA of the BR-03 while incorporating the latest power reserve and date functionality in a design that feels both familiar and newly elevated. This model is housed in a square 41mm case crafted from either stainless steel or grade 2 titanium with black DLC accents, depending on the variant. It measures 13.3mm in thickness, making it noticeably thicker than the standard BR 03, but still highly wearable due to the flat profile and integrated rubber strap design. The bezel is framed by a colored accent ring in blue for the steel model, and black for the DLC-coated titanium version, adding a visual layer of contrast that reinforces the modern, instrument-inspired aesthetic of the BR-X series.
Instead of the usual solid caseback often found on BR 03 models, Bell & Ross has opted for a sapphire exhibition window on the BR-X3 to showcase its in-house movement.
While the mechanical visuals are relatively subdued, the decision marks a departure from the technical engravings normally present on the reverse side of BR 03 cases. The flatness of the watch allows it to wear closer to the wrist, despite its increased thickness compared to previous models.
Completing the design is a screw-down crown (which is black DLC-coated on the titanium model) for improved durability and handling. All topped by a flat sapphire crystal, offering distortion-free legibility under various lighting conditions. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The BR-X3 introduces a new dial configuration that blends design cues from the BR-X5 with thoughtful refinements. Available in blue or black, the dial features multi-layered construction, adding depth and dimensionality to the layout.A wide frame surrounds the central portion of the dial, subtly segmenting the power reserve display at 9 o’clock and the three-date window at 3 o’clock, both labeled for added legibility. Applied indices and oversized Arabic numerals enhance visibility and reinforce the aviation-instrument aesthetic.
The power reserve indicator is styled like a fuel gauge, similar to the BR-X5 Racing, but reversed in orientation. This not only offers improved balance across the dial but contributes to a symmetrical composition.
The layered construction also helps to visually isolate the date complication, improving its legibility despite its triple-number format. A discreet Bell & Ross logo rests below the 12 o’clock position, completing the upper register of the display.
The hour and minute hands are filled with luminescent material, providing excellent readability in low-light conditions. The central seconds hand is color-matched to each variant: blue on the steel model, and grey on the titanium, further unifying the palette. The result is a clean and functional dial that offers modern updates without sacrificing the brand’s rugged design identity.
Bell & Ross BR-X3
The “Bell & Ross BR-X3” (References below) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.323 with 28 jewels, and 28,800 vph. This movement was manufactured by the Swiss specialist Kenissi, in compliance with the specifications defined by Bell & Ross. It comes equipped with a variable-inertia balance wheel and transversal bridge. It is also the first COSC certified mechanism for B&R. Power reserve can last up to 70 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a perforated rubber strap that flares to meet the squared width of the BR-03-style lugs, secured by a classic pin buckle. It evokes the utilitarian character of cockpit instruments while enhancing comfort and wearability on the wrist. Despite the added thickness from the new movement, the BR-X3 remains manageable thanks to its flat case profile and snug strap integration.
