Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue

It was back in 2019 when Bell & Ross first launched their BR 05 collection and since then it has quickly taken off. Most of the brand's catalog had mainly been based on military themes, but these models marked a departure towards a more sporty and casual style. Its success led to multiple variations which included a GMT complication. The latest “Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue” adds a very elegant and soothing hue to the collections color palette, which pairs well with aviation themes. The 41mm rounded square case with 11.07 mm height is made of stainless-steel with vertically brushed surface finish and polished bevels. Mounted to the case is a fixed rounded out square bezel with brushed surfaces, polished edges and the standard exposed screws. On the flip-side we have an exhibition case back, which allows a view to the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It follows their standard form with the frontal aesthetics by also featuring the four exposed corner screws.
It comes equipped with a screw-down setting-crown tucked away between crown guards, which provides a concise and compact demeanor. The crown has also been engraved with the ampersand logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a light blue sunray brushed finish dial with rhodium-plated hour indices, followed by white printed minute markers. Circling around the flange is a two-tone light blue (matching the center hue) and silver outer ring with a 24-hour scale.Unlike previous models that tend to add some dashes of color to highlight “GMT” wording and its arrow-shaped GMT hand, this edition tries not to disrupt its “skyline” aesthetics. Therefore the same light blue is fully embraced by taking half of the 24-hour scale, the GMT hand, and the date windows background.The central steel hour, minutes baignoire-style hands and hour index markers have all undergone a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a steel framed date window at the 3 o’clock position.

The “Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue” (References below) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.325 with 25 jewels and 28,800 Vph. It is based on the classic Sellita SW-330, but specifically modified for this Bell & Ross edition. Power reserve can last up to 42 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on the watch is either a satin-finished and polished integrated steel bracelet, secured by a triple folding clasp; or a blue rubber strap with vertical grooves, secured by a steel folding clasp.
