Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France

Back in 2021 marked the beginning of the Bell & Ross and Patrouille de France partnership that led to launching a themed watch in the form of a “BR 03-94” model. Now as a follow-up this aerial adventure continues with the hybrid analogue-digital dial “BR 03 Type A”, powered by a new multi function quartz movement.As the press release states this watch is a “Testament to the excellence achieved by Bell & Ross, elite units from various nations’ armed forces have chosen the watchmaker’s timepieces to accompany them in their perilous missions. So it is with the Patrouille de France, one of the most prestigious acrobatic formations in the world: a true ambassador of the French wings that embodies the expertise of the Air and Space Force.”The square 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with an overall satin-polished finish. Each of its four corners have exposed screw tops with a matching alloy to neatly blend to its surroundings for a solid integrated look.Unlike the typical circle within a circle design, this B&R is mounted by a bi-directional rotating bezel made of steel with black engraved 60 graduations. This extra layer of steel  brings the height up to 11.25mm in thickness.It comes equipped with a solid steel case back and a riveted push-in crown that features an engraving of the ampersand “&” Bell & Ross logo. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).Time is exhibited on a matte blue dial with white transfer indexes and the Arabic numerals: 6 and 12. Circling around the sloped flange is a 60-minute scale with a red highlighted section on the initial twenty minute take-off portion.Instead of a mechanical chronograph this and other useful complications (alarm, date, countdown, second timezone) appear on a multi-function digital display on two cut-out sections. To provide the best possible readability in all kinds of extreme situations, the hours and minutes are displayed with conventional hands, while the seconds are displayed on a digital screen. The “Patrouille de France” emblem is also included at the 9 o’clock spot, while parallel to it is the “Bell & Ross” logo. The central hands blend in with the blue and white color scheme, plus these hands, the hour index markers, and numerals have all been fitted with a white Super-LumiNova that emits a blue lume.

The “Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France” (Ref#: BR03AD-BBR-ST/SRB) is powered by the multi-function quartz movement, caliber BR-CAL103 that powers the analogue-digital display. This watch even allows you to choose between four languages: FR, EN, ES, and DE. The high drain battery provides 30 months of battery life.Mounted on the watch is a blue rubber strap engraved with the Patrouille de France, secured to the wrist by a satin-polished steel pin buckle. It also includes an additional black synthetic fabric strap. This is a limited edition of only 100 manufactured pieces.
