Bell & Ross BR-03 Skeleton Collection
Bell & Ross continues its evolution of the iconic BR-03 series with a striking new trilogy of skeletonised models unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2025. Known for its aviation-inspired square case design, the BR-03 now embraces transparency, structure, and luminescence with the BR-03 Skeleton Collection. Available in Black Ceramic, Grey Steel, and the highly luminous Lum Ceramic, each watch reveals a new proprietary X-shaped movement architecture through uniquely designed dials. These timepieces mark a significant step in Bell & Ross’ design language, blending high-tech aesthetics with mechanical clarity and purposeful innovation.
The Bell & Ross BR-03 Skeleton collection reinterprets the brand’s iconic square instrument design through three case materials, each emphasizing a different personality. Measuring 41mm in both width and length, the cases retain the familiar cockpit-instrument silhouette, now complemented by a variety of textures and finishes that reinforce the watch’s architectural tone.
The “BR-03 Skeleton Black Ceramic” features a matte black ceramic case,
the “BR-03 Skeleton Grey Steel” opts for a polished and satin-brushed steel structure,
while the “BR-03 Skeleton Lum Ceramic” employs microblasted black ceramic for a contemporary matte finish. Each model is topped with a flat sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating, offering a clear view of the dial and movement within.
The casebacks are closed and secured by four screws, matching the industrial spirit of the BR-03 line. Unlike exhibition casebacks, these opaque rears keep the focus on the front-facing architecture and luminescent dial designs, while ensuring optimal shock and pressure resistance.
They all come equipped with a screw-down crown positioned at 3 o’clock, offering easy winding and time-setting functionality. The crown design complements the case geometry with recessed side guards and a discreet gear-like texture for grip. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The dials of the BR-03 Skeleton trilogy are unified by a shared architectural language, centered around the proprietary BR-CAL.328 movement and its distinctive X-shaped bridge layout. Rather than being a traditional dial in the classic sense, each watch features an openworked display that exposes the mechanical structure beneath, offering an interplay of transparency, layering, and negative space. In the Skeleton Black Ceramic, a smoked sapphire crystal serves as the dial surface, subtly veiling the blackened components beneath while maintaining legibility through applied bathtub-shaped indices and bold skeleton hands. The indices and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova X1, emitting a vivid green glow in low-light conditions.
The Skeleton Grey Steel is more sculptural, with angular rhodium-plated facets and a brushed steel flange hosting thick indices. This geometric presentation evokes brutalist architecture, reinforcing the tool-watch aesthetic.
Lastly, the Skeleton Lum Ceramic adopts a futuristic tone, tracing its cut-out dial contours with powerful green Super-LumiNova. Against its smoked crystal and blackened bridges,
the luminous elements appear as a glowing frame around the movement, transforming light into a core visual element.
Bell & Ross BR-03 Skeleton Collection
All three models in the “Bell & Ross BR-03 Skeleton Collection” (References below) are powered by the proprietary calibre BR-CAL.328, developed by Sellita specifically for Bell & Ross. This automatic movement is based on the SW300, but has been customized with a redesigned architecture to showcase a skeletonised layout and X-shaped upper bridges that visually connect to the four bezel screws creating a coherent visual link between dial and case. Power reserve can last up to 54 hours, when fully wound. Each model in the BR-03 Skeleton collection is delivered with two strap options: a textured black rubber strap offering durability and everyday comfort, and a black Velcro strap inspired by aviation, ideal for quick adjustments and over-the-sleeve wear.
The Skeleton Grey Steel model is fitted with a steel pin buckle, while the ceramic versions are paired with matching black PVD-coated pin buckles. The strap system remains fixed (no quick-release), but the versatility of included options caters well to both casual and technical styling.
The “BR-03 Skeleton Grey Steel” and “BR-03 Skeleton Lum Ceramic” are both limited editions of only 250 pieces each; while the “BR-03 Skeleton Black Ceramic” is part of the permanent collection, therefore not limited.
