Bell & Ross BR-03 Astro

The Bell & Ross BR-03 collection has long been associated with aviation, taking inspiration from cockpit instruments and flight-ready designs. Now, the brand expands its vision beyond the skies with the new BR-03 Astro, a timepiece that brings the cosmos to the wrist. Featuring an animated dial where celestial bodies mark the passing hours and minutes, with a satellite orbiting Earth every 60 seconds, this limited-edition model takes a bold step into astronomical aesthetics. While the BR-03 series has explored innovative displays before, the Astro is one of its most whimsical interpretations yet, proving that Bell & Ross is unafraid to venture beyond its traditional aviation roots.
The brand’s signature square case measures in at 41mm in width and 11.5mm in thickness, crafted from black micro-blasted ceramic, providing a stealthy matte finish that enhances durability while remaining lightweight. The squared-off lugs integrate smoothly with the case, ensuring a comfortable fit, while the overall geometry remains true to the aviation-instrument DNA of the collection.Turning the watch over, the solid ceramic caseback maintains the stealthy aesthetic while ensuring durability. Although the movement remains hidden, the closed caseback enhances the robust construction, reinforcing the watch’s everyday wearability. All topped by a flat sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating, enhances legibility while featuring a hollowed interior to accommodate the raised Earth centerpiece on the dial. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The Bell & Ross BR-03 Astro takes an artistic approach to time display, with a multi-layered dial inspired by celestial navigation. The base layer is a deep blue aventurine plate, mimicking the vastness of space with a shimmering effect that resembles a starry sky. At the center, a three-dimensional Earth relief is recessed into the sapphire crystal, serving as the watch’s focal point.
Rather than traditional hands, time is indicated through a planetary system of rotating celestial bodies. Hours are represented by Mars, which is printed on a transparent rotating disc, while the Moon, with laser-engraved craters, marks the minutes. The running seconds are indicated by a satellite, which completes its orbit around Earth every 60 seconds, reinforcing the space theme.
Despite its unconventional layout, legibility remains clear, with each planetary marker moving along a defined trajectory. To enhance nighttime readability, Super-LumiNova is applied to key elements, ensuring the celestial display remains visible even in low-light conditions.
