Back in 2016 was when Bell & Ross first decided to get involved with the world of motor racing by collaborating with the Renault F1 Team. Since then the French team has gone through some profound modifications, such as changing their name and colors, which now better reflect the French flag, unlike the previous yellow hue. All that has led to this new “Bell & Ross x Alpine BR 03-92 A522”, named after the current Alpine A522 racing car.The iconic square 42mm case is made of matte black ceramic with a grainy textured finish, which continues on to the flip-side to form a solid ceramic caseback. Mounted to the case is a fixed matching ceramic bezel, while the four corners that surround it feature the exposed screw tops that tend to characterize the BR case design.It comes equipped with a knurled setting-crown embossed with the ampersand “&” from the Bell & Ross logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).Time is exhibited on a matte black dial with applied Arabic numerals, followed by a ring of white printed minutes/seconds markings. Further out is a raised black and blue graduated 60-minute inner flange, also with white markings. The rectangular-shaped central hands, Arabic numerals, and index markers have all been fitted with a Super-LumiNova filling. A nice thematic touch comes in the form of a blue seconds hand with an Alpine-shaped counterweight.Instead of a circular window between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions, Bell & Ross has opted for a framed window at 6 o’clock.

The “Bell & Ross x Alpine BR 03-92 A522” (Ref#: BR0392-A522-CE/SRB) is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.302 with 25 jewels and 28,800 Vph. It is based on the Sellita SW300-1 with some custom modification and the addition of a date function. Power reserve on this timepiece can last up to 38 hours, when fully wound.Mounted to the watch is a perforated black rubber strap, secured by a steel pin buckle with PVD coating, It also includes an extra black synthetic fabric strap.This is a limited edition of only 999 manufactured pieces.
