Bell & Ross BR-X5 Green Lum

Bell & Ross kicked off the LUM series in 2017, debuting with the BR 03-92 HOROLUM, featuring some of the most radiant Super-LumiNova on its hands, numerals, and indices. Over time, this collection of luminous watches expanded, leading up to the 2023 release of the BR-X5 Green Lum. This latest model, based on the brand's sporty BR-X5 watch equipped with a Kenissi-manufactured movement, replaces stainless steel with a composite material called LM3D along with grade 2 titanium for the case. The BR-X5 Green Lum embodies both lightweight construction and an extraordinary luminous quality, exemplifying the pinnacle of the LUM series. The classic Bell & Ross circle in a square format case has 41mm diameter made of Grade 2 microblasted titanium with black DLC coating, while fitted with upper and lower inserts in a green luminescent fiberglass composite. Mounted to the case is a matching rounded out square in blackened DLC titanium, just like the exposed screws, plus a bezel insert in a matching luminescent composite.. On the flip-side we have an exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The various luminous parts that include plates, container, bezel, and caseback are assembled and kept water tight by four screws that pass through the whole 12.80 mm thickness, in order to reinforce the final construction. The multi-layer assembly is noticeable from the front, but can be properly observed from a side view. As the brand says “The hollowed-out architecture of the case middle is obvious, revealing a technical construction that optimizes lightness without compromising on resistance.”It comes equipped with a black DLC titanium setting-crown between crown guards that were machined from the same block as the main case container. The crown has also been embossed with the Bell & Ross ampersand logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a matte black dial with applied hour markers with a Super-LumiNova frame and filled with black varnish interior, followed by a printed ring of minute indices in a luminescent hue.It includes two complications that appear as a triple-digit date window at 3 o’clock and a framed power reserve indicator at the 9 o’clock position. This is the main novelty that makes this model line stand out against what we’ve come to expect from Bell & Ross. The central hour/minute hands and hour indices have all been fitted with a luminescent filling for an enhanced legibility.
