Bell & Ross BR 05 Black Steel & Gold
Standing out amongst such a wide and over growing selection of worthy timepieces is a difficult task. That’s why only a few are legit world renowned brands, while others are appreciated mainly by horology connoisseurs. But, 15 years ago Bell & Ross conceived a unique design that established an identity for themselves, in the form of the model “BR 05”. It now returns with a new two-tone steel & rose gold option, which aims to further its recognition.
The iconic 40mm round dial within a square case is made of polished stainless-steel with a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Mounted to the case is a satin finish 18k rose gold bezel with four contrasting steel exposed screws.
It comes equipped with a setting-crown placed between crown guards. All topped by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance on this watch can last up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited on a black sun-ray dial with rose gold appliqué hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 6, 9, and 12. On the upper-half of the dial we find the “Bell & Ross” logo in matching rose gold.
The skeletonized semi-hollow central rose gold hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
Bell & Ross BR 05 Black Steel & Gold
The “Bell & Ross BR 05 Black Steel & Gold” (References below) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.321 with 25 jewels and 28,800 vph. It is originally based on the Sellite SW300-1 movement. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 38 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the watch is either a black rubber strap, secured by a satin-finished and polished steel pin buckle; or a two-tone steel and 18k rose gold bracelet, secured by a deployment buckle (for an additional price).
