Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter
Are you in the need of keeping track of your heart rate, respirations per minute, distances traveled, lap timing, but don’t want to purchase a smart watch? Well then start celebrating because Bell & Ross is about to release their new “BR 03-94 Multimeter” with a series of scales that aim at tracking all those data points, while also telling time and offering a few other useful readings. The iconic Bell & Ross circle in a square inspired by aviation control decks, appears here in a 42mm matt black ceramic case with a solid caseback. While mounted to the main case block is a matching round ceramic bezel, with exposed blackened screws in each of the four corners. It comes equipped with two push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions (plus all the other features) and a knurled setting crown embossed with the ampersand “&” logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a black background dial that is layered with several rings that implement multiple scales that add to the chronograph functionality. In total there are five different tracks, if we start from the farthest out and move in they begin with: a semi-circular orange scale as a pulsometer, followed by a green asthmometer that measures the number of respirations per minute. While the final three are all tachymeter scales that differ in the their calculated speeds: in white we have km/h and m/h over 1 km or mile; in a yellowish-green is km/h over 250m; and in beige is km/h over 100m. There is also a white scale on the left-hand side that serves as a “table of contents” to assist with remembering what each scale does.It includes two half white printed sub-dials both with white and orange hands: a sub-seconds at 3 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at the 9 o’clock position. The central hour/minute hands are white and black, while the central chronograph hand is all white. There is also a date aperture placed to the right of the 12 o’clock spot, which is a rather uncommon location. Overall this without a doubt is a very “busy” dial with an overwhelming amount of details to register at a first glance. So it's safe to assume this timepiece will fall into the either love or hate category of timepieces. Some users might have specific needs that had them wishing for a watch like this all along, while others will dismiss this as a unique piece they have no interest in.
