Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked iN White Gold

Introduced in 2022 as a highlight of the 50th-anniversary collection, the Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked, model number 16204, joined the pivotal 16202ST, an updated rendition of the iconic Jumbo. Essentially, this model is an openworked variant of its predecessor, reviving an approach first seen during the 40th anniversary with the limited edition of 40 pieces, reference 15203PT. It was already available in pink gold, yellow gold, and steel, now the 39 mm series is growing with the addition of a white gold model. Featuring various shades of gray, this sophisticated watch will be available starting April 2024.The 39mm barrel-shaped case is made of 18k white gold with a vertical brushed surface and polished accents. Mounted to the case is Royal Oak’s iconic octagonal bezel with 8 exposed hexagonal white gold screws. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The watch is driven by the ultra-thin, self-winding caliber 7124, which is just 2.7mm thick, blending sleek elegance with a modern openwork style.This extra-thin case measures in at a height of only 8.1mm, which is a mere one millimeter thicker than the previous generation Jumbo. It comes equipped with a setting-crown adorned by the “AP” logo. All topped by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).Time is exhibited on an anthracite openworked dial (also commonly referred to as skeletonized dial) with 18k white gold applied hour index markers, while circling around the sloped inner bezel is a black-toned minute track ring.In the midst of the dial we get to contemplate various purple jewels and some screws, amongst many dark gray hued gears. It features a rhodium-toned mainplate and bridges that blend in well with all its surrounding elements.The central 18k white gold hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.

The “Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked” (Ref#: 16204BC.00.1240BC.01) is powered by the new in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 7124 with 31 jewels, 211 parts and 28,800 vph. It differs from the previous 7121 caliber by not including a date and its openworked design.
