A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split Chronograph Platinum

A. Lange & Söhne revisits one of its most technically ambitious chronographs with a third interpretation of the Triple Split. Following the original white gold edition of 2018 and the pink gold model introduced in 2021, the new Ref. 424.025F pairs a 950 platinum case with a cool rhodié-colored dial and contrasting grey subdials, once again showcasing the manufacturer's unique ability to measure intermediate and comparative times across seconds, minutes and hours for periods of up to 12 hours.
The A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split (Ref. 424.025F) features a 950 platinum case measuring 43.2mm in diameter and 15.6mm thick, dimensions that accommodate the extraordinary complexity of the triple rattrapante mechanism while providing sufficient space for its numerous indications. Polished and satin-brushed surfaces maintain Lange’s characteristic restrained finishing, while the substantial case architecture reflects the technical nature of the chronograph housed within.
On the flipside a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the manually wound caliber L132.1 and its unusually deep, layered architecture. Its 567 components include an intricate arrangement of levers, springs, rockers, wheels and switching mechanisms, all extensively hand-finished. Untreated German silver bridges are decorated with Glashütte ribbing, while levers, springs and rockers feature straight graining and polished bevels, including demanding acute internal angles. Five screwed gold chatons and a hand-engraved balance cock provide further examples of traditional Lange finishing.
The crown is accompanied by three pushers dedicated to the chronograph’s unusually extensive functionality. The pusher at 2 o’clock starts and stops the chronograph, the pusher at 4 o’clock operates its flyback function, and a separate pusher at 10 o’clock controls the rattrapante mechanism, simultaneously stopping or releasing the split-seconds, split-minutes and split-hours hands. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).
The dial is crafted from 925 silver with a rhodié-colored main surface and contrasting grey auxiliary dials, creating a cooler and more restrained appearance than the previous editions. Despite the amount of information presented, the indications follow a carefully organized hierarchy: central chronograph and rattrapante seconds hands occupy the largest display area, elapsed hours are shown at 12 o’clock, precisely jumping elapsed minutes at 4 o’clock, and subsidiary seconds at 8 o’clock. Lange’s familiar AB/AUF power-reserve indication occupies the smaller display at 6 o’clock, while a tachymeter scale runs around the outer flange.

The three rattrapante indications are distinguished by blued steel hands, allowing them to be visually separated from their corresponding chronograph hands. When the chronograph is running, the rattrapante seconds, minutes and hours hands travel together with their respective chronograph indications. Pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock stops all three split hands simultaneously to record an intermediate or comparative time while the chronograph continues running; pressing it again causes the three hands to catch up with their counterparts and resume synchronized measurement. Red accents on the elapsed-hour and minute counters and power-reserve display provide small points of contrast against the predominantly grey composition.Luminous material is applied to the rhodiumed hour and minute hands as well as the hour markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, improving visibility without interfering with the dial’s technical hierarchy. The combination of rhodié-colored silver, darker grey subdials, blued rattrapante hands and selective red accents gives the platinum edition a distinctly technical appearance while keeping its unusually dense array of indications clearly differentiated.

The “A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split” (Ref#: 424.025F) is powered by the in-house manually wound mechanical movement, caliber L132.1 with 46 jewels, 567 components and 21,600 vph. It comes equipped with two column wheels, a 12-hour flyback chronograph, triple rattrapante mechanism for seconds, minutes and hours, precisely jumping minute counters, continuous hour counters, subsidiary seconds and an UP/DOWN power-reserve indication. Power reserve can last up to 55 hours, when fully wound. L132.1 Mounted on this watch is a dark-brown hand-stitched alligator leather strap with contrasting grey stitching, providing a warmer counterpoint to the cool tones of the platinum case and rhodié-colored dial. It is secured by a quick-release deployant buckle crafted from 950 platinum, maintaining the precious-metal construction through to the clasp while providing a secure fit for the substantial 43.2mm chronograph.
The A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split Ref. 424.025F is limited to 100 pieces, with each watch carrying its individual edition number. The platinum model will be presented during the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace in September 2026.
