For the first time since its introduction in 2010, the Lange 1 Daymatic by A. Lange & Söhne arrives in the brand’s proprietary Honeygold alloy, offered in a limited series of just 250 pieces. This self-winding counterpart to the hand-wound Lange 1 flips the familiar asymmetrical layout, repositions key complications, and now embraces a rich new aesthetic, pairing warm honey-toned metal with a dark brown dial to mark an anniversary date of historic importance.

The Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold is housed in a 39.5mm case crafted from A. Lange & Söhne’s proprietary 18k Honeygold, an exclusive alloy known for its warm tone and increased surface hardness. At just 10.4mm thick, the case sits elegantly on the wrist and easily slips beneath a cuff. Its proportions are balanced and harmonious, with slender, curved lugs and a narrow, slightly domed bezel. The finishing alternates between polished and satin-brushed surfaces, offering a subtle contrast that enhances the architecture without excess ornamentation.The caseback features a sapphire crystal display framed by a polished Honeygold ring. It reveals the richly decorated in-house calibre L021.1, with traditional Glashütte elements such as untreated German silver bridges, gold chatons, thermally blued screws, and the engraved balance cock. Despite the automatic winding system, the movement remains slim and beautifully arranged, with clear visual separation between components and an open, layered aesthetic.It comes equipped with a polished Honeygold setting-crown embossed with the “A. Lange & Söhne” signature, designed for precise manual operation. The top crystal is a domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both sides, ensuring excellent clarity while preserving the clean lines of the case. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet), making the watch suitable for daily use but not intended for aquatic activities.The dial of the Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold adopts the model’s distinctive mirrored layout, with the off-centred hour and minute sub-dial positioned on the right side and the small seconds and outsize date aligned on the left. Executed in solid 925 silver and finished in a warm brown tone, the dial complements the richness of the Honeygold case. The retrograde day-of-the-week display arcs along the left periphery, replacing the power reserve found on the original Lange 1. This mirrored configuration not only distinguishes the Daymatic within the Lange 1 family but also offers visual balance through a thoughtful reinterpretation of the classic asymmetry.Applied markers and hands in polished Honeygold provide sharp contrast against the brown backdrop. The subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock is slightly recessed, as is the main hour and minute dial, adding depth and refinement to the composition. The outsize date display at 11 o’clock uses white numerals printed on a brown disc to match the dial tone, blending function and aesthetic harmony. The only text present is “A. Lange & Söhne” beneath 12 o’clock, which remains subtle and dignified, reflecting the brand’s restrained elegance.Finishing is immaculate throughout, with the dial surface offering a soft matte texture that absorbs light and avoids glare. The hour markers are faceted for dimensionality, while the sword-shaped hands are perfectly polished. There is no luminescent material on the dial or hands, in keeping with the Daymatic’s refined dress-watch character. Every element is executed with precision and intent, preserving the quiet sophistication for which the Lange 1 is celebrated.

The “Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold” (Ref#: 320.050) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber L021.1 with 67 jewels, 426 components, and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with a bi-directional central rotor featuring a 21k gold core and a platinum outer mass, an indexless regulation system with eccentric poising weights, and a proprietary balance spring. Power reserve can last up to 50 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on this watch is a taupe‑colored, hand‑stitched alligator leather strap, secured by a solid Honeygold pin buckle that mirrors the warm tone of the case. The supple alligator leather sits comfortably on the wrist, offering a refined, dress‑oriented presence that complements the slim proportions of the Daymatic.
