A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honeygold Lumen
The Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honeygold “Lumen” stands as the highlight of A. Lange & Söhne’s novelties at Watches and Wonders 2024. Unveiled at this prestigious event, Lange has showcased its expertise by incorporating an exclusive Honeygold case and a luminous Lumen glow into its complex flyback chronograph, perpetual calendar, and tourbillon model. This masterpiece, which debuted in 2016, shares identical specifications with its siblings in white gold and platinum but brings a new level of sophistication by revealing its intricate mechanisms even in the dark. The 41.5mm case with a height of 14.6mm is made of 18k Honeygold, featuring a combination of brushed and polished finishes. This unique alloy, developed exclusively for Lange, is renowned for its hardness and subtle, elegant tone, reserved for the brand’s most exclusive timepieces. On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback, offering a clear view of the meticulously finished caliber L952.4 movement. The untreated German silver bridges, polished gold chatons, and blued screws are all visible, showcasing Lange’s dedication to horological craftsmanship. All topped by a sapphire crystal front, the case features two chronograph pushers, a rapid correction pusher for all calendar indications, and correctors for the moon phase, day of the week, month, and leap year. Water resistance is up to 30 meters (100 feet).Time is exhibited on a Lumen-coated sapphire crystal dial, featuring a chapter ring with a luminous tachymeter scale and minutes track. This semi-transparent dial allows ultraviolet light to charge the luminescent elements beneath, making the treated components glow in the dark. The Honeygold hour and minute hands are treated with lume, while the central chronograph seconds hand is fully lumed from tip to toe. Applied Honeygold hour markers, with lumed tips at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, enhance legibility. The two sub-dials at 9 and 3 o’clock, displaying the subsidiary seconds with the day of the week and day/night indicator, and 30-minute elapsed times with the month and leap year, are fully lumed. The luminous moon phase indicator at 6 o’clock and the outsized date at noon, with luminescent discs printed with black numerals, add to the dial’s dynamic and functional design.
