A. Lange & Söhne introduces its most compact edition yet of the 1815 Small Seconds, now presented in a refined 34mm diameter. Available in white or pink gold, this new release distills the essence of the Glashütte manufacture’s classical design language into a smaller, more discreet format, without sacrificing technical sophistication. Paired with a deep blue dial and powered by a newly developed hand-wound movement, the 1815 Small Seconds 34mm reaffirms Lange’s commitment to elegance, tradition, and mechanical excellence.
The new A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Small Seconds arrives in an elegantly compact 34mm case with a slim height of just 6.4mm. Offered in either 18k white or pink gold, the case features polished surfaces on the bezel and lugs, contrasted with satin-brushed case flanks. The traditional stepped bezel subtly frames the dial, enhancing its classical profile and reinforcing the watch’s heritage-driven design language.
A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the exquisitely finished movement within. The display offers a clear view of Lange’s signature three-quarter plate in untreated German silver, the hand-engraved balance cock, and finely polished interior components, showcasing the brand’s commitment to decorative excellence.
At 3 o’clock, the slim crown is made from matching precious metal and operates the manual-winding caliber with ease. The front is safeguarded by a slightly domed sapphire crystal, treated with anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).
The deep blue dial of the new 1815 Small Seconds draws directly from the legacy of F.A. Lange’s pocket watches from the late 19th century. Its most striking feature is the peripheral white railway-track minutes scale, punctuated by three-dot markings at each quarter-hour interval. White Arabic numerals in a classical typeface further enhance legibility, offering a refined contrast against the dial’s rich, matte blue background.
The central area of the dial is slightly recessed, adding depth to the otherwise minimal composition. At 6 o’clock, the small seconds counter intersects the main dial with a snailed finish, lending texture and a subtle play of light. This traditional subdial arrangement echoes historical Glashütte chronometry layouts and reinforces the piece’s vintage-inspired character.
Polished lancet-style hands crafted from either 18k white or pink gold (to match the case material) sweep across the dial with understated elegance. Their slender profile and sharply defined tips complement the restrained proportions of the watch, completing a layout that feels both technical and poetic.
