Tudor Black Bay Pro
A crowd pleaser has returned in yet another variation. The latest addition to Tudor’s Black Bay collection is being held as a professional tool watch, hence the name “Tudor Black Bay Pro”. At first glance this model has preserved most of its vintage looks, while offering a more compact GMT option. In terms of craftsmanship this case has undergone some subtle modifications and Tudor has equipped it with a new caliber movement. The 39mm case is made of stainless-steel with radial brushed surfaces and polished accents, while on the flip-side is a solid screw down caseback.Mounted to the case is a fixed steel bezel engraved with a 24-hour GMT scale in black. The bezel has a vertical brushed finish, which lines up well with the bracelet version, and provides a nice contrast to the case's radial finish. It also comes equipped with a bigger redesigned knurled screw-down crown, with the signature Tudor rose logo in relief. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 200 meters (660 feet).Time is exhibited on a domed black lacquered dial with beige round monobloc ceramic hour index markers, plus a rectangular marker for the 6 o’clock position and a triangular shape at the 12 o’clock position. While circling around the circumference of the dial is a railroad motif ring of minute index markersThe central hands vary with a beige colored “snowflake” hour hand and sword-shaped minute hand. While the central 24-hour hand, which rotates once per day, adds an extra touch of color by appearing in yellow. There is also a beige date window at the 3 o’clock position.A new approach by Tudor on this model occurs on the use of the luminescent coating. The hour index markers made of ceramic have been infused with Super-LumiNova. It’s a small detail but the result of this method eliminated the outline borders usually seen on markers, hence the enhanced legibility shines through a bit more.
