Tudor Black Bay iN Monochrome

Among so many memorable releases at Watches And Wonders 2024 was the debut of Tudor's latest iteration of the upgraded Black Bay model. Following the METAS-certified path laid out by last year's release, the 2024 version opts for a monochromatic aesthetic, bidding farewell to the iconic red and gold accents. Interestingly, this shift in design evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of Tudor's heritage. For years, enthusiasts have longed for Tudor to resurrect its Submariner model, now it seems that day has arrived. The 41mm case with a thickness of 13.5mm is made of stainless-steel with radial brushed surfaces and polished accents,

while on the flip-side is a solid screw down caseback. Mounted to the case is a fluted unidirectional rotating coin edged bezel with a 60-minute diving scale on a black aluminum insert. It comes equipped with a knurled screw-down crown, with the signature Tudor rose logo in relief. This is essentially the same quality case as the original, but housing the METAS certified movement, which was introduced to the series last year. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 200 meters (660 feet).Time is exhibited on a domed black dial with a mixture of applied round and rectangular hour index markers, plus a single-triangular mark at the 12 o'clock position, while circling around the flange is a white printed minute track. The central hand ensemble presents a distinctive combination of a “snowflake” hour hand paired with a sword-shaped minute hand. Meanwhile, the running seconds adopts the recognizable lollipop hand, replacing the square seconds hand seen in previous editions. To ensure optimal legibility, all these indicators, along with the hour indices, feature a Super-LumiNova coating.
