TAG Heuer Monaco Special Edition DLC Titanium
Some classics just keep on giving and such is the case of the TAG Heuer Monaco. Since its original debut back in 1969, all the way through the motorsports days, and being rocked on the wrists of legends like Steve McQueen, this timepiece has endured as a modern classic. This latest special edition is actually inspired by the so-called “Dark Lord” released in 1974, which was the first ever black-coated Monaco case. The iconic square shaped 39mm case is made of grade 2 titanium with a sandblasted and black DLC-coated finish. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Decorated with Geneva stripes and a rose gold-plated oscillating weight. It comes equipped with two rectangular alternate shaped push-buttons on the right-side of the case to operate the chronograph functions. In between them is a setting-crown embossed with the TAG Heuer logo. All topped by a domed and beveled scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance on this watch being capable of reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on an overall black dial that is composed of a black circular brushed center, surrounded by grainy textured black corners. These two portions are separated by a ring of white printed minutes/seconds markers, while each dotted hour mark is accompanied by applied 18k rose gold indexes. There are two sloped square sub-dials with red hands: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. While a small seconds with an 18k rose gold hand, can be seen without any delimitation in the center of the lower-half.The central sword-shaped 18k rose gold hands and applied hour index markers, have all been fitted with a SuperLumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a white date window located at the 6 o’clock position and a thin red chronograph hand.
