More and more colors are making their way onto the forefront of current modern watches. Just recently we saw TAG Heuer usher out a very unique purple version of their Monaco model. Now we’ve been presented with this new limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera with a vibrant red dial. The use of this hue isn’t a total novelty for the brand or even the watch industry, but after so many eras dominated by black and blue. The use of more colors is a welcomed initiative many users have been craving all along.The 39mm case is made of stainless-steel with a fully polished finish, while mounted by a thin fixed bezel that secures a boxed-shaped sapphire crystal. There are no contrasting finishes, which allows the case to shine all the way down its trademark Carrera style lugs.
On the flip-side is a transparent sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The screw-on steel portion has been engraved with the inscription “ONE OF 600” and “LIMITED EDITION”.
It also comes equipped with two steel push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions, plus a knurled setting-crown engraved with the TAG Heuer logo. All topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited on a red dial with polished and rhodium-plated hour index markers, followed by an outer chronograph track ring in white, circling around the sloped flange periphery. This red hue also has a subtle sun-ray brushed finish that accentuates its overall design.
There are three matching red hued circular-grained sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a sub-seconds at 6 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock position.
It also includes a steeled central chronograph hand, which can be activated to keep track and time laps at various kinds of competitions. The stainless-steel central hands and dots aligned with the hour index markers have all been coated with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
TAG Heuer Carrera Red Dial
The “TAG Heuer Carrera Red Dial” (Ref#: CBK221G.FC6479) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber Heuer 02 with 33 jewels, 168 components and 28,800 Vph. It comes equipped with a column-wheel operated chronograph, plus a vertical clutch providing high-quality chronometric accuracy. Power reserve can last up to 80 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted to the timepiece is a black alligator scaled strap with tone-on-tone stitching, secured to the wrist by a polished stainless-steel folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.
