This latest release by TAG Heuer is a nostalgia piece with an elegant and luxurious appearance. The inspiration behind it stems from the John Player Special black-and-gold livery aesthetics which was in vogue at Formula 1 events in the 1970s and 80s.In terms of color scheme the stunning black and 18K 3N yellow gold mix is highly executed and glamorous. One more great release that reaffirms the brand's love and connection to motorsports. The 42mm case is made of 18k yellow gold with polished surfaces that contrast with vertically brush finished case bands.Mounted by a thin fixed bezel that secures a boxed-shaped sapphire crystal. The opposing finishing touches gain an extra prominent shine as the gold is crafted into the trademark Carrera style lugs.On the flip-side is a transparent sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features a black toned openworked oscillating weight.It also comes equipped with two gold piston style pushers to operate the chronograph functions, plus a knurled setting-crown engraved with the Heuer logo. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal for a retro vibe. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a black sunray brushed dial with gold hour index markers, followed by an outer chronograph track ring in white, circling around the sloped flange periphery. The gold glow and reflecting lights add pleasing effects over the sunburst rays of the dials finish.Although this watch has a tri-compax layout, there are only two 18K 3N plated yellow gold chronograph counters with circular-grained interior: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock position. The small seconds appear between them with a gold hand, but no circular outline.The central gold hands and rectangular tops, aligned with the hour index markers have all been coated with a green luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. It includes a non-lume gold central chronograph hand to keep track of timed laps.There is also a gold frame date window at the 6 o'clock spot.

The “TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Yellow Gold” (Ref#: CBN2044.FC8313) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber Heuer 02 with 33 jewels, 168 components and 28,800 Vph. It comes equipped with a column-wheel operated chronograph, plus a vertical clutch providing high-quality chronometric accuracy.
