Panerai Submersible S Brabus Blue Shadow Edition

Barely a year later an Officine Panerai is out with a follow up to their “Submersible S Brabus”, the “S” stands for skeletonized. In 2021 we got a full carbotech edition, while this new follow up “Blue Shadow” model has a DMLS titanium case and only kept the carbotech bezel. The joint venture of Panerai with the German luxury brand BRABUS, known for crafting high-performance vehicles and power boats, has once again led to an exemplary limited edition timepiece. The 47mm case is made of titanium and was shaped using the process of DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering), which is a method of 3D printing technology that produces volumes that are both strong and lightweight. While mounted to the case is an anti-clockwise rotating carbotech bezel with a graduated scale. This watch was inspired by the Brabus Shadow Black Ops series of boats. On the flip-side is an exhibition case back, which allows us to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features a useful power reserve indicator, among an array of several shiny jewels and moving gears in full display. It comes equipped with the iconic Panerai winding crown protection with the setting-crown nestled within, which also includes a lowering lever. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 300 meters (1,000 feet).Time is exhibited on a skeletonized dial with a mixture of round and rectangular hour index markers. It features a small seconds sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position that includes an AM/PM indicator, which supports the GMT hand by keeping track of home time. There is a date aperture highlighted by a blue outline at the 3 o’clock position. The dial’s blue details combined with the rest of the case’s dark gray color serve to mimic the characteristic BRABUS color palette of gunmetal gray, black and blue. These splashes of blue were used to accent the hour, minute, small seconds hands, plus the arrow-tip of the GMT hand.Due to the lack of surface provided by a traditional dial, Panerai has silk-screened the “Panerai Submersible” text directly onto the front sapphire crystal. The central skeletonized hands, hour index markers, plus the power-reserve indicator have all been fitted with a Super-LumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility.
