The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653 features a 44mm cushion-shaped case crafted from AISI 316LVM stainless steel, a refined version of 316L steel that is vacuum arc remelted for increased purity and enhanced corrosion resistance. It presents the classic Luminor profile with its bold lines, brushed surfaces, and polished accents that lend a distinct sense of rugged sophistication.
On the reverse, a solid stainless steel screw-down caseback ensures structural integrity and reinforces the utilitarian character of the watch. Unlike more exhibitionist designs, the closed back reflects Panerai’s heritage as a tool watchmaker and aligns with the Luna Rossa model’s sporty, performance-oriented aesthetic.
It comes equipped with Panerai’s patented crown-protecting bridge mechanism to guard the setting crown from shocks and unintentional adjustments. The dial is shielded by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).
The dial is executed in matte grey, evoking the sleek and high-performance look of sailing gear. The hour markers and skeletonized central hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova that emits a vivid green glow in darkness.
