Panerai Luminor Due TuttoOro
What happens when you take a celebrated concept and you reintroduce it in smaller portions? It seems like a hit for Panerai as they continue to expand their “Due” collection. This latest release is a Luminor Due "TuttoOro”, which translates from the Italian to “all good”. It also comes in a pair offering of two distinct colored sun brushed dials that radiate a subtle elegance, fit for dress, casual, or adventure wear. The signature cushion design 38 mm case is made of 18k Goldtech™, which is a proprietary alloy that consists of gold with a higher percentage of copper and platinum. Mounted to the case is a matching bezel with the same overall polished finish, which we only notice gets disrupted by contrast near the bracelet. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features an open-worked oscillating weight with the “OP” logo.It also comes equipped with short stubby lugs with exposed screws, and the iconic extra reinforced Panerai crown guard featuring a detachable security lever. But, despite its compact construction this watch is not recommended for diving. Water-resistance can only reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).Time is exhibited on either a blue or white dial with baton-shaped hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 6 and 12. All these elements appear as cut-aways on Panerai’s iconic “sandwich” layered dial. Except for the upper-half “PANERAI” inscription printed directly on the dial. What stands out is the glare that shines off the sun brushed finish of these dials. Both the blue and white have their own particular flare and glow. While aligned with 9 o’clock is a small seconds sub-dial that seems carved into the dial, mid-way inward towards the sandwich layer. The central sword-shaped gold hands, hour index markers, Arabic numerals and small seconds, have all been fitted with a green luminescent coating. There is also a date window at the 3 o’clock position.
