The case of the Oris Year of the Horse Limited Edition measures 43mm in diameter, with a thickness of 13.1mm and a lug-to-lug span of approximately 50.5mm. Crafted in multi-piece stainless steel, it features a fully polished finish that gives the watch a refined yet substantial presence on the wrist. The generous proportions are purposeful, allowing the complex business calendar layout to breathe while maintaining a classic round profile with smoothly contoured lugs.
Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal caseback that offers a clear view of the manually wound calibre 113. The movement’s architecture is on full display, showcasing the large single barrel, exposed balance wheel, and broad brushed bridges. The perimeter of the caseback is engraved with the individual limited-edition number, reinforcing the exclusivity of the piece while framing the mechanical view beneath.
It comes equipped with a polished stainless-steel crown at 3 o’clock, which serves as the sole control point for all calendar and time-setting functions, eliminating the need for additional pushers or recessed correctors along the caseband. Covering the dial is a domed sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating to enhance legibility. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (165 feet).
The dial of the Year of the Horse makes a bold visual statement, clad in a vibrant crimson tone associated with prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture. Encircling the outer edge is a 52-week calendar ring, read via a gold-plated central pointer hand tipped in pink.
Just inside this ring, the months are written out in full between applied gold-plated indices, creating a layered, information-rich layout that remains surprisingly legible.At 9 o’clock, a recessed sub-dial houses the running seconds and also hosts the date window, while the right side of the dial displays the power reserve. Rather than a traditional linear indicator, Oris uses a patented non-linear system operated by a worm gear, with two miniature pink horses: one galloping for full power, one resting when near depletion. This playful yet meaningful design highlights both Oris’s technical ingenuity and its respect for cultural symbolism.

Gold-plated hour and minute hands with needle-like profiles sweep over the dial, paired with matching sub-dial hands and applied markers. Super-LumiNova ensures nighttime visibility, and the overall presentation masterfully balances ornate detail with clarity, for a fusion of technical display and thematic storytelling.

The Oris Year of the Horse Limited Edition (Ref#: 01 113 7806 4088) is powered by the in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 113 with 38 jewels, 240 components, and 21,600 vph. It comes equipped with a full business calendar including day, date, week, month, and a patented non-linear 10-day power reserve indicator. Power reserve can last up to 240 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a dark brown Shell Cordovan leather strap, secured by a stainless-steel folding clasp. The rich tone and high-gloss finish of the horsehide leather echo the bold crimson dial and add a refined character to the steel case.
