Omega Speedmaster 38 with Diamonds
Launched in 2017, the Speedmaster 38 collection provides a unique variant of Omega's classic chronograph model. Distinct for its 38mm cases, oval subdials, and automatic movements, the Speedmaster 38mm targets a predominantly female demographic, offering a diverse range of materials and colors. For 2024, Omega has enriched this line with eight new diamond-encrusted models: two in 18k Sedna Gold, two in 18k Moonshine Gold, and four in stainless steel, broadening the collection's appeal with these luxurious additions.
The 38mm case with a thickness of 14.7mm is made of various materials including 18K Sedna™ gold, 18K Moonshine™ gold, or stainless steel, depending on the selected model. This year's new iterations are adorned with a luxurious 52 diamond-paved bezel (approximately ~1.5 carats), and diamond-ringed sub-dials, enhancing the watch's glamor over its traditionally sporty character. On the flipside, the screw-in caseback (that matches each models alloy) comes stamped with the iconic seahorse medallion, maintaining a connection to Omega's heritage. It comes equipped with a knurled diamond-set crown, placed between two push-pieces that operate the chronograph functions. All topped by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a range of dials, including chocolate brown PVD with horizontal silvery subdials and green PVD with matching subdials, depending on the version. Each dial features a traditional 3-6-9 layout with oval shaped sub-dials with nailed interiors and a vertical oval date window at 6 o’clock, ensuring consistency in design across the collection. The fine detailing and choice of materials used for the dials underscore the luxurious update to the collection. Omega's decision to omit the traditional tachymeter bezel in favor of diamond settings shifts the aesthetic from sporty to more glamorous.
