Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black ETNZ Edition

Omega has a longstanding commitment to and sponsorship of the Emirates Team New Zealand, which will participate in the 37th America's Cup, one of the most prestigious sailing competitions. This event is scheduled to take place in Barcelona in 2024, with preliminary races starting this month. In collaboration with Emirates Team New Zealand, Omega has just unveiled the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black ETNZ Edition, designed specifically for the world of competitive sailing. The America's Cup is the oldest sailing competition, originating in 1851. It involves two teams: the defending team (the winner of the previous edition) and a challenging team determined through the Challenger Selection Series. The victorious team also becomes the custodian of the actual America's Cup trophy, famously known as the Auld Mug. The 37th America's Cup, scheduled for September to October 2024, will be hosted off the Spanish coast, with Barcelona as the main hub. The current defending champion, Emirates Team New Zealand, is gearing up to face a challenger yet to be determined. The 45.5mm is made of matte black ceramic with a height of 19mm and measures a total of 52.4mm from lug-to-lug. Mounted to the case is a black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel with a white enamel diving scale and a triangle-framed dot at 12 o’clock. On the flip-side is a screwed-on black ceramic NAIAD LOCK caseback, which has been decorated by an Emirates Team New Zealand logo with turquoise fern and white lettering. It comes equipped with two brushed black ceramic pusheres that feature turquoise rings, while in-between them is a knurled screw-in crown embossed with the Omega logo. Aligned at the 10 o’clock spot is a helium escape valve adorned by a turquoise “He” inscription. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 600 meters (2000 feet).
Time is exhibited on a matte black ceramic dial with applied hour indices and a single Arabic numeral at the 12 o’clock position, while circling alongside the inner flange of the dial are portions of a turquoise printed railroad-type minute marker, divided by single indices or numerals for every 5-minute increment. There is a bi-compax layout that includes: as a tribute to the pre-race customs a ‘Countdown Indicator” at the 3 o'clock position, which includes a flag-shaped Start symbol. The hand of this indicator and the ring around the subdial are adorned with the recognizable turquoise color of the Emirates Team New Zealand logo. While on the opposite side is a simpler and more discreet running seconds at the 9 o’clock spot. The broad-arrow style light-gray central hands, the hour index-markers, and the tip of the thin turquoise chronograph seconds hand (which features an America's Cup counterweight), have all been fitted with a unique light blue Super-LumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility. Except for the central minute hand which shines in green. There is also a date aperture at the 6 o’clock position.
