Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial Master Chronometer iN Summer Blue

Professional divers can now better blend within the abyss as they take deep dives with a “Summer Blue” dial. This collection was created by Omega to celebrate their Seamaster models and it has added some very appealing versions to their catalog. Today we took a look at the “Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M” which got many of its design cues from the Seamaster 300 and was originally released in 2005 with an orange bezel and distinctive helium escape valve. The brand has stated that “Those looking for serious dive tech should seek out OMEGA’s Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M.” As its name clearly indicates this timepiece was truly crafted to feel at home in the ocean, performing brilliantly 600 meters beneath the surface. The 39.5mm is made of stainless-steel with a combination of brushed surfaces and polished accents. This is a more compact piece compared to other models, but it still measures in at 45.6mm lug-to-lug with a thickness of 14.2mm. Mounted to the case is a blue ceramic bezel with a printed light blue diving scale. On the flip-side of this model is the same stamped commemorative Seamaster logo depicting a trident-bearing Poseidon and two seahorses, as seen on the whole “Summer Blue” collection. This was OMEGA’s 1956 original design which the brand has currently reinstated. It comes equipped with a screw-down crown, embossed with the Omega logo. Plus a conical helium escape valve aligned at the 10 o’clock position.  All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 600 meters (1968 feet).Time is exhibited on a ceramic “Summer Blue” dial with light blue hour index markers and the Arabic numerals 6, 9,  and 12. Alongside the inner flange of the dial are portions of a light-blue printed railroad-type minute marker, divided by single indices or numerals for every 5-minute increment. This summer blue ceramic dial is also PVD treated and varnished with a gradient finish. These mixed techniques seem to bring forth a vertically brushed finish, which adds an almost salvaged artifact look to the design. The broad-arrow style blued central hands and the hour index-markers have all been fitted with a unique light blue Super-LumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility. Except for the central minute hand which shines in green, just like the 12 o'clock dot on the bezel. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position.
