Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Beijing 2022
Next month on February 4th, all seems set for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games to begin. Omega will once again reprise their role as the official timekeeper of this prestigious event. And as is tradition in preparation to appropriately celebrate this major world event, Omega has released a new special edition “Seamaster Aqua Terra Beijing 2022”, with an appealing frosty snow-inspired dial. The 41mm case is made of stainless-steel with a brushed finish, while mounted to the case is a slope stainless-steel bezel with a polished finish. It measures in at a height of 13.5mm and has preserved all the standard attributes of this classic design, including its signature twisted lugs.Instead of a crystal caseback like the “Tokyo 2020” edition, on this flip-side Omega opted for a solid steel caseback with waved edging. In the center is a stamped “Beijing 2022” emblem with the Olympic rings and the Chinese character 冬 (dōng), which means winter. All topped by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. It also comes equipped with a screw-in crown, which assists with water-resistance reaching up to 150 meters (500 feet).Time is exhibited on a white dial made of ceramic with a laser-engraved frost-finish pattern. This “icy” look not only looks “cool” (pun intended), but also thematicaly pays tribute to the Olympic Winter Games it was made to commemorate. It features blue triangular wedge-style hour index markers, followed by a ring of smaller minute index markers with double-digit Arabic numerals alternating between red for every fifteen-minute increment and blue for every intermediate five-minute increment. The Omega logo can be seen on the upper-half of the dial with “Seamaster” printed in red with its standard cursive font. While the blued dauphine central hands, hour index markers and the tip of the seconds hand have all been fitted with a white luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture at the 6 o’clock position.
