Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT
Recently we welcomed some revamped editions to the “Longines Spirit” collection, now the brand follows it up with another trio of vintage inspired models. The new “Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT” is being hailed as a pilot’s watch based on aesthetic choices from the past, while combining some of the most current technical expertise. Longines has even created an interactive website, which allows you to scroll through history and find out many more interesting facts about what inspired this latest release by clicking here. The 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with a mix of brushed surfaces and accents with a polished finish. Mounted to the case is a bi-directional rotating bezel with black, green or blue ceramic insert with a 24-hour scale and a Super-LumiNova triangle. On the flip-side is a solid caseback secured by six exposed screws, and features an engraving of the Longines iconic winged hourglass logo.It comes equipped with a knurled screw-in crown embossed with the Longines logo. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on either a matte black, sandblasted anthracite, or sun-ray blue dial; all with applied Arabic numerals and small cut-out diamond index markers besides them, while circling around the flange is a 60-minute scale with seconds/minutes markings. Much like the recently released retro-inspired “Longines Spirit” model, this “Zulu” variant also features the Longines winged hourglass on the upper-half of the dial, while the lower-half features five applied stars in a row and the “CHRONOMETER” inscription. The central sword-shaped hands and Arabic numerals have all been fitted with a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date window at the 6 o’clock position, with a tone-on-tone hue to match its background surroundings. The luminescent arrow-tipped GMT hand provides a second time-zone by relying on the bezel’s 24h scale.
