Longines Master Collection 190th Anniversary
Watches have been around for a long time, but they’re very far from being as old as time itself. With that in mind, many would be surprised to know Longines is currently celebrating its 190th anniversary! This makes it one of the longest established watch manufactures in the entire industry. Longines was founded in 1832, while Omega was founded in 1948, and Rolex only started in 1905. To mark the historic occasion they’ve released the “Master Collection 190th Anniversary” with three distinct options. The 40mm case is available in either stainless-steel, 18k yellow gold, or 18k rose gold, all with an overall polished finish. This is a contemporary design with a popular diameter, while also crafted with a more modern slim case height of only 9.35mm.
On the flip-side is a transparent sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features an oscillating weight with a commemorative engraving and cut-out representing the iconic winged logo. Plus the limited edition gold versions have both been engraved with each model's unique number. They come equipped with a knurled setting-crown, embossed with the Longines logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can last up to 30 meters (98 feet). Time is exhibited on three distinct dials: sandblasted silver (steel), vertically brushed gray (yellow gold), or grained anthracite (rose gold); while in common they all include 12 engraved Arabic numerals, followed by a sloped flanged with cut-out dots that serve as minute index markers. An overall simple layout that manages to gain an elegant feel due to the stylish fonts seen on the numeral, as well as the cursive lettering chosen for the vintage Longines logo on the upper-half and the “Automatic” inscription on the lower-half of the dial. The central leaf-shaped, gilt hands are shaped identically, but differ in alloy from blued-steel on the steel version, while the other two match each model's corresponding gold tone. In order to preserve a classier dress watch aesthetics, they’ve opted to not add any luminescent material.

Power reserve can last up to 64 hours, when fully wound.Despite the different alloys and dial hues, all three models come attached to an anthracite alligator strap with exposed tone-on-tone stitching, and a “soft touch” design, secured to wrist by a triple folding clasp with push-piece opening mechanism, which matches each model's case material. The yellow and rose gold editions are limited to 190 manufactured pieces each. For more up to date information visit the official Longines website here.
