Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty

To mark the 50th anniversary of its emblematic Laureato collection, Girard-Perregaux presents the Laureato Fifty, a limited edition of 200 pieces that blends historic design codes with contemporary execution. Introduced in 1975 during a transformative era in watchmaking, the Laureato stood out with its integrated bracelet, polished octagonal bezel, and in-house quartz precision. This latest anniversary edition retains the spirit of the original while refining its lines, enhancing ergonomics, and introducing a new time-only automatic caliber housed in a two-tone steel and yellow gold case.

The case of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty measures 39mm in diameter and 9.8mm in thickness, featuring a refined combination of stainless steel and 3N yellow gold. Its tonneau-shaped profile remains true to the original 1975 design but is subtly modernized with sharper angles, pronounced bevels, and an even more fluid integration of the bracelet. Alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces add depth to the form, while the polished octagonal bezel in gold creates a striking visual anchor atop the mid-case.Turning the watch over reveals a flat sapphire crystal caseback secured with screws, offering a clear view of the in-house automatic Calibre GP4800. The exhibition window allows for appreciation of the movement’s symmetrical layout, inspired by the maison’s iconic Three Bridges architecture. The caseback continues the two-tone theme with polished steel contours framing the sapphire opening, while the integrated construction maintains the watch’s sleek silhouette.
The fluted crown, crafted in yellow gold and engraved with the GP logo, nestles neatly within the case flank. A flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial side, preserving legibility while contributing to the watch’s slim profile. Water-resistance can reach up to 150 meters (500 feet), ensuring everyday durability alongside its refined aesthetic.
The dial of the Laureato Fifty is rendered in a refined sunray grey tone, providing a subtle yet dynamic backdrop that changes character under different lighting conditions. Its surface is enriched by a traditional Clous de Paris guilloché pattern, adding texture and depth to the otherwise minimalist layout. A raised chapter ring frames the dial, creating a layered composition that feels both contemporary and respectful of the original 1975 design.
Applied baton-style indexes and faceted hour and minute hands are crafted in matching 3N yellow gold, harmonizing with the warm tones of the bezel and central bracelet links. A slender central seconds hand sweeps across the dial, its counterweight featuring the distinctive double-arrow motif, which is a stylized signature of Girard-Perregaux. The elements are all highly polished, catching the light with clarity against the textured grey background.Positioned at 3 o’clock, a date aperture is neatly integrated into the dial layout, with the date disc color-matched to maintain aesthetic cohesion. The combination of rich guilloché detailing, well-proportioned typography, and warm metallic accents makes this dial a modern evolution of the Laureato legacy, striking a perfect balance between decorative finesse and everyday legibility.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty (Ref#: 81008-63-3412-1CM) is powered by the new in-house self-winding mechanical movement, Caliber GP4800, composed of 189 components, including 28 jewels, and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). It is the first time-only movement inspired by the architecture of the Maison’s iconic Three Bridges, and it integrates cutting-edge materials such as a silicon escapement and a variable inertia balance. Power reserve can last up to 55 hours when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is an integrated two-tone bracelet composed of alternating satin-brushed stainless steel and 3N yellow gold links, tapering gradually toward a triple folding clasp.

The yellow gold central links are slightly more domed than the flanking steel links, creating a dynamic interplay of light and depth. For added comfort, the bracelet includes shorter intermediate links and a half-link adjustment, along with a fine-tuning system within the clasp that allows for precise micro-adjustments of up to 4 mm.
Limited to just 200 pieces, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty commemorates half a century of the brand’s most iconic design. This anniversary edition combines historical fidelity with refined modernity, marking a significant milestone for the Laureato lineage. For more up-to-date information, visit the official Girard-Perregaux website here.
