Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Onyx Dial

A new version of the “Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon” has been released with a nocturnal, stealth-like onyx dial. This glossy canvas is further enriched by the mixture of alloys, harmoniously fixed together. This collection manages to make something extremely complicated, appear as an elegant and casual piece of our attire. The 41mm case is made up mostly of 18k white gold with the caseback, to bezel, and stylistic semi-hollow lugs. But the middle case is made of black ceramic, which finely compliments the black onyx dial.Mounted to the case is a white gold bezel that extends the height of this watch to 11.8mm. This serves to properly secure the double curved sapphire, while wrapping around the black lacquered inner bezel, inscribed with a 60-minute scale. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes decorated with several jewels and an 18k rose gold oscillating weight adorned with a cutout AP logo . It comes equipped with a knurled setting crown, embossed with the AP logo. Attention to detail is the norm for the 11.59 series. This led the manufacturer to create a contemporary double curved sapphire crystal, whose tense, arched profile plays with depth, perspective and light for a unique optic experience. While its internal surface is shaped like a dome, it is vertically curved from 6 to 12 o’clock. Water-resistance can last up to 20 meters (65 feet). Time is exhibited on a black onyx dial without any numerals at all. The only guiding force are the double-digit numerals for every 5-minute increment, that add up to 60, while circling around the black lacquered inner bezel. This surface lets off a distinct shine, further intensified as light meets the rose gold elements. The central 18k rose gold sword-shaped hands have not been applied with any luminescent coating. But set against this very dark surface, both the hands and elevated numerals manage to naturally glimmer against their backdrop. The “Audemars Piguet” signature can be seen on the upper-half. While on the lower-half the dominant hue is interrupted by a flying tourbillon that stretches from mid-center to the 6 o’clock position.Framed by a golden circle, followed by a smaller gold circle within, plus a new black PVD coated cage, as the top layer with exposed screws at work.
