Marking the 250th anniversary of Breguet, the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 is a tribute to the brand’s most iconic invention: the tourbillon. Introduced exactly 224 years after Abraham-Louis Breguet patented his groundbreaking regulator, this celebratory timepiece features Breguet’s first-ever flying tourbillon and a luminous aventurine enamel dial evoking the cosmos. Limited to 50 pieces, it represents the maison’s continued commitment to heritage, technical mastery, and artistic innovation.
The Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 is housed in a compact 38mm case crafted from Breguet’s proprietary 18k Breguet gold, a warm-toned alloy developed for this 250th anniversary series. Polished throughout, the case features the brand’s signature fluted caseband and elegantly welded straight lugs. A spherical sapphire crystal treated with double anti-reflective coating offers an undistorted view of the dial, while a screw-down sapphire caseback also receives the same treatment.
Flipping the watch over reveals the reverse side of the mysterious flying tourbillon, which is suspended within a hand-guilloché backdrop inspired by the Quai de l’Horloge, the historic location of Breguet’s original Paris workshop. The guillochage motif extends across the mainplate and tourbillon support, intricately engraved in 18k Breguet gold and visible through the crystal caseback.
It comes equipped with a discreet pull-out crown and is topped by a high-domed sapphire crystal to accommodate the tourbillon's 2.2mm projection. The proportions are dictated entirely by the majestic tourbillon, which elevates the watch to sculptural territory. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).
Evoking the starry night sky, the Grand Feu aventurine enamel dial is built from five layers of powdered aventurine glass, each kiln-fired at 800°C. At 12 o’clock, a blue PVD-coated gold subdial with applied Breguet numerals displays the hours and minutes via open-tipped gold Breguet hands.
An aperture at 6 o’clock reveals the floating, one-minute flying tourbillon, made even more dramatic by its "mysterious" construction, featuring a sapphire crystal base and carriage support that render its mechanics nearly invisible.
The dial is completed by gold-applied "Breguet" and "Tourbillon" inscriptions, as well as the maison’s discreet secret signature.
In addition to the magical visual effects of aventurine and levitating mechanics, the dial represents a cosmic homage to Breguet's early fascination with astronomy. Small seconds are displayed on the tourbillon cage, bringing both rhythm and functional harmony to the celestial display.
