With the new BR-03 Diver Black Bronze, Bell & Ross delivers a pairing that feels both inevitable and overdue: warm marine-grade bronze combined with a stark black dial and bezel. While previous bronze BR-03 Divers explored bolder colors, this edition embraces restraint, leaning into a classic diver aesthetic where material contrast does the talking. The result is arguably the most coherent and purposeful bronze execution yet within the square-cased BR-03 Diver family.

The square case measures 42mm × 42mm with a thickness of 12.3mm, crafted from CuSn8 bronze (92% copper, 8% tin), a marine-grade alloy known for its durability and corrosion resistance. Satin-brushed surfaces dominate the case flanks, while polished accents highlight the edges, enhancing the sharp geometry of the BR-03 silhouette. The warm tone of bronze contrasts strikingly with the deep black bezel insert, giving the watch a purposeful, instrument-like presence. Over time, the untreated bronze will develop a natural patina, further individualising each piece.On the reverse, a solid steel screw-down caseback reinforces the professional diving credentials of the watch. The use of steel prevents potential skin reactions while preserving structural integrity under pressure. The construction is fully compliant with ISO 6425 dive watch standards, underlining its legitimacy as a serious underwater instrument rather than a purely aesthetic exercise.The screw-down crown with protective guards ensures secure time-setting and water resistance, seamlessly integrated into the square case architecture. A thick anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the unidirectional rotating bronze bezel features a polished black ceramic insert with a 60-minute scale for dive timing. Water-resistance can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet).
The dial adopts a glossy black lacquered finish, creating a stark, elegant backdrop against the warm bronze case. The layout remains faithful to the BR-03 Diver’s highly legible instrument aesthetic, with bold geometric markers and a clean, balanced structure. A discreet date window positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock integrates smoothly without disrupting symmetry.Applied “baignoire-style” hour markers and skeletonised hour and minute hands reinforce the functional, aviation-inspired design language that defines the brand. The printed minute track around the perimeter ensures precise reading, while the black-on-black structure keeps the overall look sober and coherent. The contrast between the dark dial and bronze case adds visual depth without unnecessary embellishment. The glossy surface introduces subtle light reflections that enhance dimensionality. The bezel markings and dial indices are filled with Super-LumiNova X1, while the skeletonised hands are also treated with luminescent material. In low-light conditions, the lume emits a green glow, ensuring optimal underwater legibility consistent with ISO dive standards.

The Bell & Ross BR-03 Diver Black Bronze (Ref#: BR03A-D-BL-BR/SRB) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber BR-CAL.302-1 with 25 jewels, and 28,800 vph. It comes equipped with hours, minutes, central seconds, and date functions, based on the Sellita SW300-1 architecture. Power reserve can last up to 54 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a black rubber strap secured by a bronze pin buckle, complemented by an additional black ultra-resistant synthetic canvas strap for everyday wear. The rubber option reinforces its professional diving intent, while the canvas strap introduces a more utilitarian, field-ready aesthetic. On the wrist, the square bronze case feels substantial yet balanced, with the evolving patina adding personality over time and the black dial maintaining a clean, disciplined visual presence.
