Cartier
Founded in 1847 in Paris by Louis-Francois Cartier. Cartier is a french luxury goods conglomerate specialized in the design and manufacturing of exquisite jewelry and watches. The kings, queens and rulers throughout the world were amazed by the products of Cartier and took interest in owning these products for themselves for over 150 years.
Alberto Santos Dumont, an aviator friend of Cartier, complained about the difficulty of reading the time from a pocket watch while flying and due to that the Santos collection was created by Cartier. This was the first men's wristwatch to be manufactured. By 1907, Cartier had expanded to New York, London and St. Petersburg, which established Cartier as an international watch company.
Cartier's Tank series was influenced by the Renault tanks from World War II and Cartier wanted the watches represent actual tanks.
In the mid-1930s the Pasha of Marrakech requested a watch that he could utilize while bathing in his swimming pool, so he could keep track of time. Cartier manufactured a waterproof watch for him and they named the collection Pasha de Cartier.
