Drawing inspiration from the brand’s vintage racing timers, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch brings a fresh twist to the iconic square case with a bold black-and-silver dial and high-contrast red accents. 
Introduced during the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix weekend, now officially named the Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco, this limited edition pays homage to the stopwatches used in motorsport’s golden age while embracing modern materials and design cues. 
Released as a numbered series of 970 pieces, the watch blends heritage aesthetics with the unmistakable silhouette of the Monaco, reinforcing TAG Heuer’s deep-rooted connection to motorsport timing.
The 39mm square case is crafted from lightweight grade 2 titanium, treated with a black DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating and given a sandblasted matte finish. With a case thickness of 14.25mm and a lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm, this modern Monaco wears bold on the wrist, offering a distinctive yet compact presence consistent with the model’s motorsport legacy.
On the reverse, a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the automatic chronograph movement, with engraved text indicating its limited edition status. The square case’s short, angular lugs and inset pushers reinforce its iconic geometric identity while emphasizing its sporty edge.
It comes equipped with a sandblasted black DLC-coated crown positioned at 9 o’clock, a signature of early Monaco models, flanked by rectangular pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock for chronograph operation. A domed, bevelled sapphire crystal protects the dial while enhancing the vintage-inspired design. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is displayed on a two-tone black and silver opaline dial, with a layout that pays direct tribute to vintage Heuer stopwatches from the 1960s and 1970s. The contrasting tones are arranged in concentric circles, creating a highly legible and visually dynamic display. Black-gold applied hour indices and faceted hour and minute hands frame the symmetrical composition, while a subtle angled date window at 6 o’clock integrates seamlessly into the lower half of the layout.
Two sub-dials are positioned horizontally: a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock and a small seconds display at 3 o’clock. Their recessed black surfaces enhance contrast against the silver backdrop and create a sense of visual depth. 
Accents of red lacquer, most notably on the chronograph hands and 12 o’clock marker, inject sporty energy and reinforce the link to vintage timing instruments used trackside.
The central hour and minute hands are filled with blue-glowing Super-LumiNova, ensuring nighttime visibility without overpowering the vintage design. Red lacquer on the central chronograph seconds hand and dial details offers a modern performance-inspired contrast, while the white printed HEUER logo at 6 o’clock affirms the historical lineage.
TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch
The “TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch (Ref#: CAW218F.FC6356) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber Heuer 11 with 59 jewels and 28,800 Vph. This caliber is equipped with a fast date correction and stop-second. It is based on the Sellita SW-300 movement with chronograph functions courtesy of the Dubois-Depraz 2008 module. Power reserve can last up to 40 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is a black perforated calfskin strap that channels vintage racing spirit while ensuring breathable comfort on the wrist. It is secured by a sandblasted grade 2 titanium folding clasp with a black DLC coating, featuring double safety push-buttons and engraved with the classic HEUER logo. 
The combination of textures and materials provides both durability and a cohesive aesthetic, perfectly complementing the watch’s sporty, retro-modern character. This racing-inspired chronograph is a limited edition of 970 pieces, a nod to the 1970s era that influenced its design.
